Tonight was a brutal night of delivering pizza as it poured down rain the entire time! For some reason, the cooler temperatures and the pizza prep brought me back to my first jobs growing up. I mowed lawns for anyone who would let me and even substituted for a friend on his paper route once and awhile while in grade school. In high school, I spent my summers in the cornfields of DeKalb Ag Seed Corn where I pollinated corn most of the summer. I think sweating in the cornfields, all covered with pollen, was probably the worst job experience I ever had! During the school year I flipped burgers at a local hamburger and ice cream place. Don't remember the name of the place off the top of my head, but they served this huge ice cream sundae in a kitchen sink!
While lots of this work seems pretty menial today, I often times wonder if what we each do as a "professional" has any more meaning or brings any more fulfillment?
